Hi! I’m Mary, Thank you so much for stopping by my blog and giving me the opportunity for you to get to know me better! I am a wife to a wonderful and hard-working man, Drew, and a mama to two energetic and sweet little boys (Isaac 10, Eli 7) who always keep me on my toes! We live in South Jersey and are blessed enough to be by the shore!
Me with Hubby!
I first taught myself how to crochet over 14 years ago when I was away in Michigan with my husband, who at the time was finishing up his Masters in Music degree at the University of Michigan. Being just married, and off for the summer (I was an elementary school teacher at the time) I did not want to be away from my new husband for five weeks! So I decided to go with him, not having any real plan as to what I would do to occupy my time. It didn’t take long before I found myself bored out of my mind! One of the things I liked to do was take walks around Ann Arbor. One day, I walked into a Barnes & Noble and was browsing the DVD section when I came across a dvd that taught how to crochet. I will be completely honest, I had no idea what I was even looking at! At the time, I’m pretty sure I remember thinking crochet was some form of knitting haha! After reading the back of the dvd, I though to myself “I think I can do this,” I mean, I certainly had the time! Once I started to crochet, I couldn’t believe I was actually doing it and creating a scarf that looked somewhat wearable! Mind you, I am not a crafty person. I come from a family of seven and I am by no means the artsy one. Through the years, my crochet skills have only grown. I am so blessed God has given me the ability to crochet. It has a calming effect when life gets crazy and hectic. One of my favorite things to do is snuggle up with a blanket and a cup of tea (sorry, not a coffee drinker!) and just crochet away! It truly is one of my favorite happy places! My mind is continuously coming up with new creations and patterns.
I started this blog because I felt God calling me to do more. It is a huge leap of faith, but knowing I can bless or encourage others through my God-given abilities makes it worth it! My goal for this blog is to provide quick and easy crochet patterns and hopefully inspire others in the process.
Thank you again for stopping by. You are my encouragement to keep going! Feel free to take a look around and check out some of my other patterns. If you have any questions you can contact me, Mary, at croydencrochet@gmail.com
