In this post I am going to list 12 stunning and unique crochet stitches that will hopefully provide you with some inspiration for your next project!

These crochet stitches range from beginner-friendly to slightly more advanced. All the stitch tutorials provide links to instructions on how to work them.

1. Even Moss Stitch

This is a highly textured stitch that is created by alternating slip stitches and half double crochet stitches. This stitch works well with a variety of projects. I used this stitch to make my Fluffy Clouds Infinity Scarf.

2. Star Stitch

This stitch is often referred to as the Marguerite Stitch. This is a great stitch to learn if you are looking to expand your crochet skills. 

 

3. Alpine Stitch

This is a beautifully textured stitch that uses front post double crochets that are worked around stitches from a previous row. This has become a very popular stitch for blankets.

4. Tulip Stitch

This is a great stitch to use if you are crocheting a blanket, scarf or wrap. It closely resembles the popular corner-to-corner stitch.

5. Iris Stitch

This is one of my favorite stitches. I used this stitch to create my Iris Swim Cover Up pattern. This stitch gives a nice light and airy drape to your work.

6. Linen Stitch

This stitch is also called the Moss Stitch, Seed Stitch and the Woven Stitch. I know, confusing….right?! This beginner stitch is crocheted by working a series of chain stitches and single crochet stitches. This is one of my favorite stitches to work with.

7. Block Stitch

This stitch creates a beautiful modern look. The Block Stitch looks exceptionally beautiful when worked in multiple colors. This stitch works well for blankets, scarves and washcloths.

 

8. Primrose Stitch

This stitch is perfect for beginners. It creates a beautiful shell look. I used this stitch to create my Primrose Slouch Beanie. 

 

9. Tilted Rows Stitch

This is a fairly easy stitch once you get the hang of it.  This stitch consists of single crochets, double crochets and chain stitches. This is a really fun stitch to work up! This stitch would work well for a wrap or shawl.

 

10. Side Saddle Stitch

This stitch creates a lovely airy look. The texture of this stitch is very striking. It is created by working a series of single crochets, double crochets and chain stitches.

11. Single Crochet Chevron Stitch

I absolutely love this stitch! There is just something so appealing about the nice clean edges of this stitch. I love the look of the steeper peaks and deeper valleys this stitch features.

12. Even Berry Stitch 

I love how this stitch creates an interesting texture. This crochet stitch looks far more complicated than it actually is! This is a perfect stitch to try if you are a crochet newbie.
